Home Builders in Sarasota That I’m Currently Loving

There are two buying options in Sarasota County when you start your home buying search: A resale home or a new construction home. New construction is very prominent in Sarasota County, mainly located East of I75 or along the coast of South Sarasota into South Venice. There are three major areas where all of new construction exists: Lakewood Ranch, Palmer Ranch, and Wellen Park. These three major master planned communities are filled with planned neighborhoods, offer a wide variety of well known new home builders, and have amenities that accommodate all ages. On today’s blog, I want to talk about the home building companies that I love working with and highly support. I have an extensive background in new home construction sales and have had my fair share of experience working for builders, and selling their homes. I am basing my opinion on three factors: Customer experience, delivery times, and quality of the home. Let’s get into it!

Neal Communities

Neal Communities is locally owned and operated and has been building homes in our area for 50 years. The company is privately held which makes a huge difference when it comes down to the customer experience and expectation setting. They have a strong Real Estate portfolio of single-family homes, commercial properties, shopping centers and apartment communities throughout Southwest Florida and hold a fair amount of highly desirable land. Not only do they have a strong real estate portfolio, but they also own a roof truss company and a pool company which is a super important factor when it comes to delivery time - we will discuss this momentarily. Neal Communities is listed as my first home builder because they check all of the boxes for my top three factors. Their customer service is unmatched, from the moment you walk into the sales center to the moment you close on your home, you can guarantee you will be treated correctly. Buying a home is a very emotional purchase, and building a home is even more emotional. It’s so important that you have constant and honest communication throughout the process and you will surly have this when working with the Neal team members. Revisiting the truss and pool company ownership now is a big deal when it comes to delivery times. There have been horror stories of home builders losing their contract with their roof truss company which has ultimately led to months of delays when building the home. Since Neal has their own in-house roof truss company, this will never be a concern when building your home with them. Also, pool companies in Florida are so backed up right now with the influx of pools being build and supply chain, that outside pool companies can delay closing of your new home because it’s taking so long to build them. However, Neal’s pool company only works with Neal so timing of the pool build lines up with the construction timeline of the home.

David Weekley Homes

David Weekley Homes started building homes in 1976 and has grown to become one of the largest, privately held builders in America spanning across 12 states and 19 cities. Their approach to building homes is customer focused and they strive to provide amazing service throughout the build process by offering weekly update calls with the dedicated home builder and sales consultant, to offering an array of meetings throughout the build, such as pre-construction meetings, pre-drywall meetings, and a final walk-through. They design their floorplans based on the way the home lives rather than square footage, so you will find the plans are laid out extremely well, there are an abundance of windows throughout the home, and minimal wasted space. Many of their communities are located in the Tampa area, however, they do have a community in Downtown Sarasota, and a few others on the horizon in Waterside, Lakewood Ranch, and Venice.

Taylor Morrison

Taylor Morrison has been building homes for 100+ years and are extremely well known throughout the country. Their homes are beautiful and they offer well designed floorplans in great areas, especially in the Sarasota area. They offer high-end finishes, a personal approach to the home building process, and warranties on their products. Also, they have numerous brands when it comes to communities such as Esplande which is their luxury, amenity rich brand, 55+ living, and amenity rich with golf communities.

Arthur Rutenberg

AR Homes started building homes in 1953 and from the beginning they were an industry pioneer. They are a luxury home builder and you will find them throughout Sarasota County in large scale communities with the best homesites. They have built over 500 homes in Sarasota/Manatee County since they began building in 1953. Their floorplans start at 2,002SF and are fully customizable within days.
