Where to Spend a Rainy Day in Sarasota

Florida is known as the Sunshine State however during summer, it’s also known for it’s afternoon heavy downpours that last anywhere from 5 minutes to a few hours and on some cases, all day. When you’re visiting a beach town and rain is on the forecast, it can be overwhelming to figure out how to spend the day so I am giving the scoop on all of my favorite things to do on a rainy day!

Ringling Museum

The Ringling Museum is one of my favorite places to spend the day and no matter how many times I visit I am still breathtaking each time. You could spend hours on end roaming through the Circus Museum, grounds, Ca d’Zan, and art museum and still feel like you could go back and see something new. They always have great attractions, new art galleries, and cool events happening. This is a great rainy day spot to visit.

Mote Aquarium

The Mote Aquarium & Marine Laboratory has plenty of sharks, sting rays, moray eels, octopus and sea turtles to check out. Get an introduction into the water world right here on the land. As you walk along their many exhibits you will learn about each type of marine life living within Sarasota Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. This is a great spot to spend a rainy day as most of the aquarium is covered.

CineBistro

CineBistro is a movie theatre in Sarasota that offers a luxurious movie experience. This is a perfect place to enjoy a rainy day as the seats recline and are super comfortable, they offer in theatre dining and a full bar, and always play the top premiering movies. This is my favorite theatre in Sarasota and totally worth a visit on a rainy day!

UTC Mall

Obviously our local mall had to make it to the list for a rainy day activity because who doesn’t love a little shopping? The UTC mall is a great place to spend a few hours when the weather isn’t great because they offer a ton of shops, eateries, and often have events happening for the kids. If you’re visiting during the holidays, the UTC mall should be added to your list of must visit spots because they go all out with decor. In fact, they hire the same company Disney uses when it comes to holiday lighting.

These are just a few spots to spend a rainy day and I hope you enjoy my recommendations! Please comment below if you’ve checked out any of these spots! Thank you for reading.
